Free Reading: Demystifying the Tarot #BlogchatterA2Z

‘I don’t believe in Tarot, but I’ll allow you to convince me with a Reading’.

‘Oh, you charge your friends and family too? Very professional, my God!’

‘Give me a free Reading first, and I will pay for the next one.’

‘Give me a free Reading and I’ll get you, clients.’

‘You are doing such a noble service, why should you charge for it?’

These are just some of the lines I am used to hearing ever since I have been a Professional Tarot Card Reader.

It amazes me how people assume that they deserve a free Reading. Of course, some go so far as to even tell me that they are bestowing the honor upon me, of allowing me to convince them about the Tarot ‘even though they don’t believe in it’.

If I don’t believe in something I do not waste a single moment thinking about it, and here you are ready to fork out precious time so that you can allow me to convince you about it? I have no idea why anyone would think that I need to convince them?

When I started out as a Professional Tarot Reader 16 years ago, no one knew what Tarot Reading was. I was patient and I bid my time, honing my skills as I waited for the awareness to grow.

I paid a handsome amount to a Professional to learn this skill. I am a Professional with 16 years of experience behind me. When you come to me for a Tarot Card Reading I invest my complete time, energy, and attention into a session. Just like any other professional would in their chosen stream.

Do you walk into a Doctor’s or Lawyers office to demand a free consultation? If you are a professional yourself, do you offer and/or indulge those who ask you to convince them about your skillset? I hope not.

Tarot Card Reading is not my timepass or something I do on the side. It is my Profession that has brought me a lot of gratification.

Getting a free Tarot Card Reading from any Reader puts you in the Karmic Debt of that Reader. You will continue to meet and repay that debt till it is settled. This was the lesson ingrained in me by my teacher.

Hi, I am Mayuri, a Tarot Card Reader by Profession and a Writer by design. Since I am already aware of what the future holds, I enjoy unwrapping the present. Follow me on my Instagram handle @CardTalkWithMayuri to know more about the Tarot and all things related.

  1. Can you please give me a free reading?? I’ll promote this post twice on all my social media. Promise.

    1. Oh, I get THAT a lot too!:))

  2. That must be super annoying when people do that, Mayuri. You have incredible talent with many years of experience. The right clients will know to appreciate that.

    1. Yes, it is! Thank you, Leha!

  3. Harshita Nanda

we all have that “bhaiya Zara free ka dhaniya dena” mentality no? for each and everything.
more power to you for sticking to your guns and honouring your profession

    1. Aur kya! Thank you, Harshita.

  4. Deepika Sharma

  5. I am outraged on your behalf! I am glad you stick to your guns and do not encourage free readings. Keep the flag high!

  6. Such senseless people! It could get very annoying. I’m sorry you have to go through such stupid stuff.

  7. Hahaha, you’re a tease, Mayuri! This is my first read of your challenge this year. Totally agree with you on free services. Nothing comes free, and Tarot readings are everywhere now. It’s here to stay as well! #BlogchatterA2Z

    1. Thank you for reading, Tina.

  8. You know when it becomes difficult, when other family members are offering their services for free and it’s difficult to convince them to charge. Also they expect you to reciprocate. Its not my problem if you do not value your work , time and expertise. I value mine. While I am grateful to them, I really feel that they should respect their work.

    1. So true, Aesha. That becomes such a dilemma.

That service thing is my favourite point. You’re doing something noble, why take money. It’s the same with any kind of professional (intangible) service you provide. Because there is no product, there is no respect 😐

  10. Mam, do you mind wring about how much time and money does it cost if someone wants to learn this skill? If you already have, please share the link.

    1. Thank you for writing in. If you could DM me on any of my Social Media accounts, I’ll share the details.

  11. Ha Ha Ha people are such mindless that dealing with them can make you lose your mind too. How can they be so insensitive!

    1. Totally agree with you, Chinmayee! Thanks for reading.
