Transformation: Demystifying the Tarot #BlogchatterA2Z

When you hear the word Transformation you don’t bat an eyelid, right. At the most, the mention of this word might pique your curiosity a bit.

However, If there is one card that gets an immediate, and horrific, reaction when it appears during a Tarot Card Reading it is the Death Card. The question that almost always follows its appearance in a Spread during the Reading is, ‘Am I doing to die?’ or ‘Is someone close to me going to die?’

In fact, this card is so disturbing that the newer Tarot Card Decks are considering changing the illustration and renaming the Card to ‘Transformation’.

The Card depicts the Grim Reaper / a Skeleton riding a horse in what appears to be a battlefield. There are dead bodies carpeting his path and a Child and Bishop are appealing to him. The sun is setting on the horizon behind him. Transformation and Change are what the Death Card heralds. When it appears during a Tarot Card Reading, it signifies a big change is sure to follow. It is about the death of the old and the birth of the new. About a transition to exceptional times, about the Querent undertaking a journey that may not be very comfortable but required to better their circumstances and life ahead.

The Death Card appears to let you know that someone, or certain situations, will appear in your life to get you out of your comfort zone. These will smoothen your rough edges and polish you to a shine.

Tell me now, does the Death Tarot Card still sound scary or will its appearance make you look forward to the Transformation that awaits you?

  1. It doesn’t scare me now. Sometimes transformations can be scary because it means you have to move out of your comfort zone but one should be open to change and challenges to manifest their dreams into reality.

  2. Very much prefer it as a Transformation card… even I would be desp if I was dealt this card under the original context

I agree calling it the transformation card would be much better on the BP of people than Death Card

  4. Transformations can be scary when one has to depart from their comfort zones! This can be scary as death and hence the name Death Card.

Well the name transformation would certainly do good as the name does sound scary even though the card itself has great value
